Understanding Nitricum acidum
Dr. Claudio C. Araujo M.D., F.F.Hom. (Lon.) et al.
Nit-ac. is anxious. As if he must die, anxious about a given disease, with fear of death. The anxiety is worse during a thunderstorm.
Anxiety about his disease, with fear of death; morbid fear of cholera.
Anxious dreams and crying out in sleep.
Anxious dream at night, as if he must die.
More anxious than usual during a storm.
He is indifferent and sad. Tired of living, he is absorbed with himself, depressed and despondent. He is sad, silent and indifferent to his surroundings.
Lying in a state of apparent stupor.
Discontented, despising life, [1].
Depressed and very anxious in the evening (the day before the menses)
Depressed, as if despondent as if in deep thought.
His sadness and his indifference are accompanied with his strong impatience and peevishness towards the others.
He is angry, full of rancor, fretful, “insensible to apologies and excuses”.
He has fits of rage, is obstinate, impatient, and stubborn.
Attacks of rage and despair, with curses and imprecations,
He becomes violent about trifles all day, and then has to laugh at himself
Inclined to be angry and use insulting expressions
Very fretful and uncomfortable in the morning after rising,
Very ill-humored and peevish at himself,
Ill-humored and peevish,
Very fretful and despondent,
Nit-ac. living is mingled with many sensations and feelings of despair. He’s afraid to die but longs for it. The sad events of his life don’t bring peace to him. He is frightened, he fears in his dreams, he is timorous and full of fancies about death and crimes that he had commit. Hopeless and tired, he is exhausted, with this sensation of having lost his will power. He is discontented with himself and cries at the sight of his miserable life.
Satiety of life with fear of death.
Timorous, and easily affected by anything unpleasant,
Discontentment with himself, that induces violent weeping, which makes him feel better,
Hopelessness.
Feels as though he had partly lost his willpower.
Very easily startled and frightened,
She became lost in thought about a long-past anxious event, from which she could not free herself, almost like a waking dream; from time to time she aroused herself from it with fright, but always became again deeply buried in the same train of thought; she was able to think of anything else only with the greatest difficulty,
Dreams of crimes that he commits,
He has not many symptoms related to his relationship with the others. It seems that they had been absent in his actual life and he is very much involved in his own nightmare. The only “persons” that now appear in his life are ghosts, images, and corpses.
Dreams of corpses,
Anxious oppression, like nightmare, as if someone were lying under him and holding him fast with the arms about his abdomen, so that he could not free himself, immediately after falling asleep
In the evening, in bed, all sorts of images appeared to him; they walked, ran, disappeared, reappeared, became larger and smaller, with chilliness,
He will be probably a person with a strong sexual desire. And we can assume that his desire will be driven only by lust, not by affection and love.
Visionary dreams of carousing and feasting at night,
Violent erections on waking, at night,
Violent erections at night, even after an emission.
Much inclination to coition.
Coition, repeated in too short intervals, though without sufficient sexual desire, caused general weakness and the renewal of old complaints,
Nit-ac. soon found out that he needs to seek shelter during the thunderstorms, and his internal state, his anguish would give him some relief when his is riding his car through the city streets.
Nit-ac. is on the move, running away from his ghosts, away from his own anguish. We can find a Nit-ac. patient among the runners, dancers, sport lovers or swimmers, people that are always exerting endlessly.
Even taxi drivers!
At once she is taken with a peculiar anguish, runs to her physician, but he is not at home, hires a carriage to drive to the house where she expects to find him; during her ride all the anguish is gone; arrived at home she feels as bad as ever, and feels herself thus forced to drive about the whole day, till all the effects of the Nitric acid have passed off,
He will be looking for his doctor and is afraid to die, afraid of being sick. He’s probably someone chasing after blood tests, X-Rays, constantly visiting his doctor and if he cannot find him, he will ride his car until his anguish is better.
Probably suffering from panic syndrome, from night terrors and nightmares, indisposed to work, extremely sensitive to pain, worse at night when his ghosts are arriving, Nit-ac. after a long struggle is depressed and wants to die. But he’s always reluctant about it, as he is afraid of death.
A general indifference to all matters; tired of life; has no enjoyment in anything; aggravated before menses.
Indifference; tired of life; joyless; sadness before menses.
Anxiety about his disease, with fear of death; morbid fear of cholera.
Discontented, despising life,
Tired of life,
Depressed, as if despondent as if in deep thought,
Nit-ac. could be someone that, long ago, was a happy person. Or, at least, he wanted to be someone happy and cheerful. But life has giving him a hard time and he had lost his hope and strength to keep on. He has no more power to keep on, to sustain himself in all aspects of live.
After continued loss of sleep, long-lasting anxiety, over exertions of mind and body from nursing the sick, great anguish of mind from loss of his dearest friend.
Uterine hemorrhage in first half of pregnancy, after overexertion of body and mental depression.
He was a sensitive child, sensitive to pain and to quarrels.
The child begins to weep very much on the slightest provocation,
Had been experiencing something hard to understand, hard to accept, difficult to cope with?
Cannot comprehend what is said to him.
If she exerts herself to reflect upon important things her thoughts vanish,
She has no thoughts at all, and cannot comprehend anything; cannot even understand what is said to her, just as if she did not hear well, which, however, is not the case (after five days),
Has no ideas; comprehends nothing, does not understand what people tell her.
If she exerts herself to reflect upon important things, her thoughts vanish.
Does life have charged a too strong toll to Nit-ac. and now he can go on no more?
Is living so painful to him to the point that now he is exhausted, afraid, searching for his doctors, unable to stop her restlessness and anguish? Sheltered at home, suffering for his losses, afraid to die? The Nit-ac. woman probably had no children, due to her abortion tendencies. The male is excused due to the fact that he didn’t want to bring children into this world.
Uterine hemorrhage in first half of pregnancy, after overexertion of body and mental depression.
Tendency to abortion from general weakness and the ease with which a uterine hemorrhage may set in.
Great weariness and indolence, as if completely exhausted and bruised, while sitting and walking,
A sick feeling over whole body; faint from least motion.
So weak, almost constantly obliged to lie down; loses breath and speech.
Great weakness; trembling; shocks on going to sleep; depressed in spirits.
Absorbed in himself, silent, with the sadness,
Peevish, with a sad and obstinate mood, with restlessness, so that she does, not known where to turn,
Was his life joyous and happy before but now it became a sad existential experience?
Was Nit-ac. naïve enough before and now he is in despair, unable to deal with his daily business?
Very vivid visionary dreams of the occurrences of the day, in the morning, followed by great weariness
Horrible dreams, preceded by a joyous dream,
He reproaches himself. There was something to be done and he failed. And he suffers from it. What it could be? What has he wanted? He’s suffering from a situation he had created for himself. What are his mistakes? What was the subject that he had been hunting for? Restlessly…
Obstinate and refuses to be comforted about his misfortune.
He is angered over his own mistakes.
Discontentment with himself, that induces violent weeping, which makes him feel better,
